First…
It obviously depends on your budget and goals…
BUT ONLY IN THE SENSE OF WHICH ONE YOU DO FIRST!!
When I get asked or it comes up in conversation, I have determined my final answer is:
DO BOTH RIGHT AWAY…
If you can’t spend $ 2,500/mo on marketing to address both short and long term traffic goals (ppc/seo) to grow/sustain your business, you should either:
A) Be patient, consistant and driven enough to grind your @$ $ off to get work/clients, and then budget for a great ppc/seo campaign. (if it’s your first 90 days in business, or you hit a speed bump…)
OR
B) Quit "PRETENDING" to run a business, and go get a job.
Literally…
If you can’t hustle enough to make $ 3,500/mo to live in the USA, pay rent, and start marketing your business, you are making less than $ 40k/yr and can do better for yourself, your family and society at a day job.
