I’m hunting for my first apartment, and I’ve found several that are conveniently close to my job. They’re decent apartments in good neighborhoods, but the apartments themselves could use some updates, i.e. new doorknobs, fresh paint job, new refrigerator, new light fixtures, etc… I know some apartment managers don’t allow tenants to make changes to the apartments, but what if the changes were all at the tenants expense and the tenant expected nothing in return for the upgrades? I would love to be able to renovate the apartment I move into, but I expect nothing in return for the renovations. Do you think some apartment managers would be okay with that? I mean, once I move out, they could bump up the rent price since it would be an updated unit. Any help and feedback is very much appreciated! Thanks!
