There are several print servers on my – corporate – network. There are printers whit “!”-s listed in “Devices and Printers” caused by a document stuck in the queue with the Status “Error – Printing” (even the “Test page”)
Not persistent, not reproducable. Works sometimes and the next job is stuck.
I have access to the SPL files but don’t really know what to search in it – if there is anything to search for.
I also found out that the spoolsv.exe is only using 1.9 gbytes of a maximum amount of ram and 50% cpu tops. Not sure though if this is relevant in an x64 system with x64 2008r2 and 4gbytes of ram – vmware, 10gbyte page file 20% in use, and there is free physical ram as well.
Have found errors in the log but they are 2-3 days old, and they only suggest to restart ths spooler (no comment…)
Restarting the service is not an option, I obviously know how to do that and have tried it but the error keeps coming back. I need to find the root cause and have to prevent this from happening.
Please tell me how and what to check. All printers are HP printers, with HP Universal Printing PS (v5.7.0) driver.
I can provide any info needed. Thanks!
