Yesterday I was flying from Bristol, England. It was my first flight from this airport and I can’t say it was a nice experience. A little backstory: recently I barely made it to the gate because of VERY long delay during passport control. Now I just try to get to the gate ASAP and then proceed to browse the pseudo duty-free area.

Anyway, in Bristol you get to the common area where you wait to learn the gate number. The gate number is displayed around 35mins before the take off. That leaves 35mins to go through the passport control (I flew from the UK to the Schengen area) and get to the plane. I was quite shocked that when all of us rushed to the gate, there was no passport control at all. I flew from few airports in the UK and there always was passport control when departing.

Is this something new? Is it like that on all of the other airports?
