I try to find a way to manage batch numbers for products in Magento 2 in order to make them retraceable. I’m not sure if it’s really called batch number in English (in German it’s called “Chargennummer”) so here’s a little example:

100 pieces of a specific product are produced in one batch. These 100 pieces should be marked as one batch. Another 100 pieces of the same product are from another batch and should be marked accordingly. The different batches could be from different producers, countries, animals (for example when selling meat) or just from a different year. For the customer it should be possible to enter the batch number and retrace the product’s origin.

I think that might be achievable via the inventory/stock management but I don’t know how.
