I have a project which is using some features of SMO.
We request users to install the SQL Server 2012 SP2 Feature Pack so our application is able to work properly.
However, some of the team members suggest we should include those dll files we are using to the project so users won’t need to download and install Feature Pack anymore.
I don’t feel right about the idea cause which means we are going to store more dll files in version control and keep them updated. Plus, I’m not sure if there would be any license issue if we do this. Besides these, I didn’t come up anything fatal about this solution.
In short, is it OK to include dll files which suppose to be installed in GAC?
