Last November I and my friend got invited to attend an on-site interview for a big tech company in London, and we both got rejected for different reasons.
The company was going to support our travel, which was stated in our invitation letters as follows:
[Company] guarantees that [Name] will have adequate funds in his possession, as well as return transportation.
They also gave us itineraries that include flight tickets and confirmed hotel bookings which we provided with the application, we also provided our fathers’ bank statements with enough balance and stable monthly salary transfers, and we provided statements from our universities that we are students that are enrolled in the current running semester.
I was rejected for the following reasons:
I have refused your application for a visit visa because I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of paragraph(s) V4.2 to V4.10 because:
- You have applied for entry clearnece to attend an interview at [Company]. The infomration you have provided on your application and the supporting documents you submit allows me to asses whether your circumstances and intentions are, on the balnace of probabilities, as stated.
- You state that you are a student and that your father will be covering the costs of your trip. I acknowledge the bank statment in your father’s name that you sumbitted in support of your application. However the documents you have submitted do not show the source of these funds.
- You have not submitted any documentation to demonstrate what your personal and family circumstances are. I have not seen any documentation to suggest that you have any financial or other assets in Egypt. It is the intentions of the application that are paramount in considering any application and without this information, I am not satisfied that you are genuine visitor. In addition, I consider that you do not have strong enough economic or social ties to Egypt to satisfy me that you intend to leave the United Kingdom.
- I am not satisfied that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor for a limited period or that you intend to leave the United Kingdom at the end of the period of the visit as stated by you. I am also not satisfied that you have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit without working or accessing public funds. Your application is therefore refused under Appendix V 4.2 – 4.10.
I didn’t provide a source of funds (HR letter) for my father’s salary that is showing on the bank statement, so this explains the first point. However, the other points don’t make sense whatsoever because I am still a student and in Egypt, most students live with their parents and are supported by them, which doesn’t make sense why they expect me to have my own financial assets in Egypt.
My friend, however, provided an HR letter showing his father’s employment date and his basic salary. However he was rejected because of the following:
You state you receive EGP 38,000 per year from your parents but you did not provide evidence to demonstrate this. You also state you intend to spend GBP 1000 but again you have not provided any evidence of your personal and financial circumstances.
As a student living with his parents, with his father supporting his daily expenses by giving him a monthly allowance in cash, how can he provide evidence to demonstrate such thing? I think it almost doesn’t happen that a father gives his son who lives with him money through bank transfer for example.
I plan to reapply again to attend another interview for the same company, but this time I am providing a letter from my father stating that he supports my living and will support my expenses there for the two days of my visit, my birth certificate with my father’s name, an HR letter from my father’s work and the contract of the current apartment my father owns which we have lived in for the last 12 years. Do you think this will be enough to satisfy the ECO? Also, should I write that I take allowance from my father, knowing that like my friend I can’t really demonstrate this in whatever ways the ECO looks for other than mention it in the statement my father will sign.
Any thoughts will be appreciated, thank you!
