I just installed an Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on a Galaxy J5 (2016) phone in our family. (It’s running Samsung Experience 8.5, if that’s relevant.) We simply hate, hate, hate the ugly two-line digital clock on the lockscreen. And it seems while listening on headphones, the audio playback controls are not displayed on the main lockscreen but on another side screen – tremendeously bad UI design choice in terms of functionality. I googled for an answer last night for a few hours and tried out many things, such as installing around 10 themes, but all have reverted back to two-line clock after notifications have been removed from lockscreen. What I don’t want to do is pay one cent for some app that might fix this, or install any app that requires irrelevant permissions for what seems to be a trivial thing to fix. We’d be very very grateful if someone magically powerful Android guru could help us on this.
