I was inspired after hearing my friends complain about Young Adult or YA novels. I thought “Hey I could do it better.” But I’m currently a new writer and I’m worried in my attempt to do something different from a standard YA novel and avoid all the standard problems I’ll end up making all the same mistakes that those books my friends complain about made. So I have to know what common problems do most YA novels suffer from and how can I avoid it. By the way my story is about a odd and quirky but determined teenage girl who finds out her father she never met was an alien and sets out on a journey across the universe to find him. I was inspired by listening to a lot of David Bowie music.
