Im 18 years old and have no experience of playing the sport of basketball but recently my brother took me to a pick up game & holding the ball in my hands and shooting it in the hoop made me fall in love with the game and makes me feel like I was meant to play basketball, however there is 3 problems, I am 18 years old , under 6ft & have not played much basketball during my life.. I understand some of these people in the nba have been playing since they were 10-15 but then the other day I watched this documentary on klay thompsons life growing up & he was speaking on his father growing up and falling in love with basketball after playing it for the very first time when he said “in a small auditorium in the bahamas a 17 year old tall skinny guy played basketball for the first time and fell in love with the game & was drafted into the NBA just 6 years later” so keeping that in mind his father had only 6 years of basketball experience before turning professional so he would’ve been 23 at the time of being drafted, could I follow in Michael Thompson’s footsteps & eventually get into the nba at 24-28 & hopefully have 5-10 years in the league? I understand I would have to work my *** off so I can catch up to the players already in the league and I am willing to do that so I can reach my full potential.. I wasn’t gifted with height.. but surely being gifted with my athletic abilities should make up for it right? E.g players like Isaiah Thomas. Any advice would be appreciated
